Professional Doctorate in Elite Performance

What is it? The D.Prof. EP has been developed to produce doctoral thinkers and doers within professional practice and is targeted at any profession endeavouring to enhance performance. The award is designed to develop professional innovation through critical thinking and the application of empirical methods.

Who is it for? The D.Prof. EP is targeted at any profession endeavouring to enhance performance. Examples of such professions are: Coaching (Sport and Business), Organisational Management, Scientists in a support role, Medical/Paramedical Practitioners, all involved in the performing arts, Military Personnel and other structured service providers.

How is it delivered? The D.Prof. EP is designed to exactly fit the essentials of each candidate’s personal profile and professional challenge. Throughout the program, students work with a range of specialist staff, from the University and their own professional field.

Postgraduate Diploma in Elite Coaching Practice

What is it? The PG Diploma in Elite Coaching Practice (PG Dip) is a programme designed to challenge and innovate current practice. Its focus is solely on coaching process and examines coaching philosophy and practice as well as the integration of support and analysis systems.

Throughout the process coaching practice is observed to identify whether new concepts are being challenged and experimented within their coaching context.

Who is it for? The course is for coaches operating at a level higher than UKCC level 3 and have significant experience of working in talent or performance systems.

How is it delivered? The PG Dip is delivered through face-to-face delivery across ten weekends. Students are also supported in their performance environment by mentors.

Professional Masters in Elite Performance

What is it? The Professional Masters in Elite Performance (M.Prof) is an exciting and original initiative, capable of providing a high level, vocationally focused award to a broad range of professionals. The M.Prof provides an opportunity for those working in elite performance to complete a programme of study focused on career-based needs and aspirations.

Who is it for? The M.Prof. EP. is targeted at any profession endeavouring to enhance performance. Examples of such professions are: Coaching (Sport and Business), Organisational Management, Scientists in a support role, Medical/Paramedical Practitioners, all involved in the performing arts, Military Personnel and other structured service providers.

How is it delivered? You will be assigned a personal tutor, an experienced academic with a strong background in performance. The tutor can draw on a broad base of expertise, both within the existing University staff and through other contacts internationally.

Although study can be completed independently, you will be encouraged to engage in electronic communications with members of the supervisory team and interact and learn in face-to-face and small group settings.

These are organised at UCLan’s Preston campus, but also elsewhere in the UK (and even internationally based on geographic clusters). Tutors also travel to meet with participants, particularly in the early stages of the different modules.
